I am currently imaging a beetle species for NIR reflectance. I have a fully modified camera, all the wavelength filters, and reflectance standards. It would be time consuming imaging in all wavelengths when I just need IR reflectance. So I am wondering if there’s a way to just get IR reflectance values from just IR images in MICAtoolbox?
Hi,
Well, the toolbox doesn’t provide you with reflectance per-se (i.e. you won’t get a reflectance curve), but an approximation of it by means of the RGB values in your .mspec image. I.e. the sum of the light captured by the RGB pixels relative to your grey standard. Provided you are using a picture taken with a camera that can only detect NIR, the RGB values would correspond to the ‘reflectance’ values for those wavelengths, i.e. the total amount of light captured relative to your standard.
Short answer: Yes.
Cheers,
Cedric
